About Hunch Lab
Hunch Lab is the research programme of Hunch. It uses public data to study how events at Belgian companies connect, and publishes the results, including when there is no link.
Who
Hunch is a Belgian company that helps businesses find customers at the moment they need something. Warre Pieters, founder of Hunch, is responsible for the research and answers questions about it.

Why
Data on Belgian companies is public, but spread across registers that are rarely read together: the Belgian Official Gazette, the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises, planning applications, European public procurement, state aid registers and annual accounts.
Hunch Lab puts them side by side and publishes what comes out, including when there turns out to be no link. Anyone can check the results, reuse them and challenge them.
Independence
Every finding comes from public registers and from sources Hunch tracks itself. Client data is never used.
Which findings appear is decided by fixed rules: the same thresholds for every result, including when there is no link or an inverse link. Any change to those rules is dated at the bottom of the methodology. No companies are named and the way a Hunch model decides is not described.
Hunch Lab is part of Hunch, a commercial company. Confirmed links may serve as signals in the models Hunch builds for clients.

Data
Every finding is free to reuse, including commercially, with attribution: “Source: Hunch Lab, hunchleads.com/en/lab”. The licence is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
Every finding comes with its figures as a CSV: per measurement the number of companies, observed and expected cases, shares, factor and 95% interval, as well as by year and by sector. Anyone can recompute a finding.
Citing
Cite a finding with the name of the Lab, the title, the date of the data and the address. Each finding has that text ready to copy. For the Lab as a whole:
